RF Hardware Design Engineer

RF HARDWARE DESIGN ENGINEER

RF HW Design Engineer, as part of the HW Team, follows the full product development lifecycle, from the requirements analysis to the design, testing, validation, certification (driven by the applicable regulations) and volume production ramp-up phases.

Main responsibilities

  • Simulation and design of RF circuits, front ends and PCB antennas in UHF and Sub-Ghz bands

  • Contribute to design requirements and technical specification starting from product requirements

  • RF modules (LTE, NBIoT, BT, GPS) and SRD transceivers scouting and selection

  • Schematics design and PCB layout, following PCB manufacturers and Company's design rules (including components libraries creation, BOM cost analysis, mechanical constraints evaluation and interaction with mechanical engineer, review of application and normative constraints)

  • Laboratory test planning (functional, characterization, reliability, and pre-compliancy test plans) and execution, including RF range tests)

  • Volume production test-bench specification and design, test time optimization, working with software engineers.

  • Support to the external labs on EMI, EMC and EMF issues for product certification

  • Work with FW/SW engineers, to properly specify HW interfaces and support product development phases from bring-up, validation, certification till the application test on field

  • Returned Material Analysis to identify the failure root cause and potential design/test improvements

Qualifications and experiences

  • University Master degree in Electronics Engineering, or equivalent discipline

  • 5+ years of proven working experience in relevant engineering environment

  • RF (Sub-GHz, LTE) and Mixed Signal Systems design, test and certification

  • Antenna and RF filters design, simulations and matching networks

  • Solid RF and analog design knowledge, low power hardware design

  • Use of ANSYS HFSS, Genesys and similar RF simulation tools

  • Use of Altium Designer suite (schematic + PCB), PSpice or equivalent circuit simulation tool

  • Signal Integrity, Electromagnetic Interference and Compatibility issues management

  • Certification process support for Wireless products (ETSI, FCC, ARIB)

  • Design for testability and manufacturability, DFMEA and MTBF design driven

  • Use of the main laboratory electronic instrumentations required to test RF systems and antenna

  • PCB manufacturing and assembly processes knowledge

  • Proficient in English

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of firmware programming (C/C++)

  • Knowledge of Labview

  • Flexible, able to prioritise activities and managing time efficiently, meeting the deadlines

  • Ability to conjugate the product with the process and the solution perspective
