Hardware Design Engineer

HARDWARE DESIGN ENGINEER

HW Design Engineer, as part of the HW Team, follows the full product development lifecycle, from the requirements analysis to the design, testing, validation, certification (driven by the applicable regulations) and volume production ramp-up phases.

Main Responsibilities

  • Contribute to design requirements and technical specification starting from product requirements

  • Schematics design and PCB layout, following PCB manufacturers and Company's design rules (including components scouting and selection, libraries creation, BOM cost analysis, mechanical constraints evaluation and interaction with mechanical engineer, review of application and normative constraints)

  • Laboratory test planning (functional, characterization, reliability, and pre-compliancy test plans) and execution

  • Volume production Test-Bench specification and design, test time evaluation and optimization, – working with software engineers.

  • Support to the external labs for product certification

  • Work with FW/SW engineers, to properly specify HW interfaces and support product development phases from bring-up, validation, certification till the application test on field

  • Returned Material Analysis to identify the failure root cause and potential design/test improvements

Qualifications and experiences

  • University Master Degree in Electronics Engineering, or equivalent discipline

  • 5+ years of proven working experience in relevant engineering environment

  • Electronic circuits design, components selection, schematics, and layout;

    • digital embedded design (microcontroller, peripherals, communication interfaces)

    • Analogue signal conversion (ADC/DAC)

    • mixed signal, Sub-GHz and RF design

  • Low power hardware design

  • Design for testability and manufacturability, DFMEA and MTBF design driven

  • Use of Altium Designer (schematic + PCB), PSpice, and/or similar CAE and CAD Tools

  • Signal Integrity, electromagnetic interference, and compatibility issues management

  • Use of the main laboratory electronic instrumentations (power supply, oscilloscope, spectrum analyser, signal generator, climatic chamber)

  • Testing and validation (up to industrial certification) of low power, RF, mixed signal, embedded systems

  • Knowledge of automated PCBA validation test techniques (LabView)

  • Knowledge of firmware programming (C/C++) as plus

  • Proficient in English

  • Flexible, able to prioritise activities and managing time efficiently, meeting the deadlines

  • Ability to conjugate the product with the process and the solution perspective
